Though Samsung suffered from a weak sales performance of its flagship Samsung Galaxy S9, the company seems to have come back in full swing. The South Korean company recently revealed that its performance for Q3 2018 yielded record high profits compared to the same period in previous years.

A full breakdown of Samsung’s performance won’t arrive until the end of the month, so we won’t know until then which divisions were the stars for this period. Despite the turnaround in profits, chances of this being due to the company’s mobile phones division is unlikely.
Apart from smartphones and TVs, Samsung also deals regularly in memory chips. In fact, this is still one of the largest contributors to its business. While its flagship phones failed to meet expectations, memory chips have been strong in demand.
Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus launched on 16th March but weren’t a hit with the masses. After reporting one of its worst mobile sales performance in Q2 2018 since Q2 2013, the company is now working to make its phones more affordable, particularly for millenials. Samsung also plans to release its foldable smartphone later this year, though the success of such a gimmick remains to be seen.
