Samsung New QLED TV Series Captures Colours Naturally

Achieving near natural like quality on a regular TV screen has been the ultimate goal for manufacturers, eluding this dream for most, but has now been close to possible for one Korean company. Samsung has been progressively developing new technology on television set, while others have withered away, the LED specialist has announced its new QLED series promising to be able to reproduce 100% of the colour volume.

What this means is, the series can display the various colours at different level of brightness with even the subtlest of differences visible. For example, a leaf can be perceived as different colors from yellowish green to turquoise, depending on brightness of the light. The QLED display can capture even subtle differences in color pertaining to brightness which is quite impossible to be depicted in traditional 2D colour models.

This breakthrough is a result of Samsung’s adoption of a new metal Quantum Dot material – making it possible for the display to express a significantly improved range of color with much greater detail compared to conventional TVs. The technology also allows deep blacks and rich detail to surface regardless of how light or dark the scene is, or whether the content is being played in a brightly lit or darkened room made possible with the high luminance of 1,500 to 2,000 nits.
