Post beta, Epson has finally readied the Moverio AR glass wear for developers to create solutions that can take deliver the product into various real life application. At the same time the Moverio BT-300 made for use in drone piloting will also be available later this month and have been designed to work with DJI UAVs.
PC.com first tried the hardware from Epson in IFA Berlin last year, somewhat like Google Glass of earlier days, the Moverio adapts to both your surrounding without impairing your sight while maintaining visual image projected on the glass. Using Si-OLED (organic light emitting diode) the glasses are extremely light, users will not feel the eyewear and will be able to receive disrupt free augmented reality images with very less inconvenience.
Powered by Android 5.0, Epson has tapped on Intel to supply the engine going with a quad core Atom X5 processor to keep this device operating. Currently available for purchase, the Moverio BT-300 Developer Edition holds a suggested retail price of $779. As for the drone edition, the unit comes pre-loaded with the DJI GO app and the glasses feature clip-on dark shades for use in bright sunlight. This version is priced at $799.
Federal Aviation Authority haves maintained the rule that UAVs must remain within the visual line-of-sight of the remote pilot, reinforcing the relevance of such devices, its is also reported that more than 600,000 UAVs are expected to be in use in 2017.
