Samsung Gear S2 Gets S3 Feature Updates (There’s Tons!)

s3dial-faceThat’s how digital devices work, they are software dependent. When a new update arrives together with a new device, commonly the older version suddenly look outdated, temptation gets the better of you and a large chunk of your paycheck disappears. For those who own a pair of Samsungs ambitious attempt to dethrone analog Rolex’s and Omega’s dominance in the wrist wear business, Gear S2 smartwatches are getting software updates that will make Swiss watchmakers up in arms, again!

When the S3 was announced in IFA Berlin the features were remarkable, new dial face options, personal favourites like voice guided fitness coaching and even sketching. Before all those with their S2 strapped to their wrist go all disappointed and look to fling it out the window, hold-on, Samsung has made all these features now downloadable for the previous generation model. How thoughtful (insert: smiley face emoji here)

gear-s2-second-value-pack-update_main_6Thanks to Tizen OS that operates the smartwatch, customisation is now possible with loads of apps available on the Galaxy Apps store that include the Reminders app, which lets Gear S2 users add tasks and conveniently manage to-do lists, and the Alti-Barometer, which can assist in tracking outdoor activities and measuring air pressure. Update also enhances the function of its intuitive bezel, which allows users to accept or reject calls, and dismiss alarms, timers and alerts for scheduled events with a twist. The new Handwriting Mode features support for superimposed writing, allowing users to scrawl messages directly onto the device in Korean, English or Chinese. Users may also punctuate their messages with sketches, or choose an appropriate visual from the 180 distinct emoji catalogue, a new Voice input now lets users send dictated texts and voice recordings.

There a tons on new feature and functions on available, be to sure to check them out, I know I will. Now where did I leave my GS2?
