Did Apple Just Confirm They’re Working on a Self-Driving Car?

We’ve been hearing rumours about an Apple car even before we got wind of the company’s secret ‘Project. Titan’. But with so little to go on, the rumours were difficult to confirm. But just yesterday, everything changed. In a 5 page letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Steve Kenner, Apple’s director of product integrity strongly and almost officially hinted that the company was working more closer with the automotive industry.

HOWEVER, there was no mention of an Apple car in any way shape or form. The specific things mentioned in the letter were about Apple’s increasing investments in “the study of machine learning and automation, and is excited about the potential of automated systems in many areas, including transportation.”

So while an iCar is still technically unconfirmed, it’s safe to say that Apple will play a significant enough role in the future of driverless cars.
