Samsung CEO Admits The Galaxy Fold Released “Before It Was Ready”

As you may remember, when the Galaxy Fold first released to reviewers, there were some issues. I mean, device breaking issues, but issues nonetheless. What seemed to be the future of smartphones eventually turned to a failure, and the race to be first foldable smartphone in the market was back on. Even the Huawei Mate X has been delayed to September, so there’s still time for Samsung to catch up, and to fix the issues learnt during the whole saga.

The main issues of course, was the infamous protective film on top of the display being removed and causing the display to fail. Alongside other issues such as foreign substances entering through the hinge. No new release date has be announced since the recalling of the review units in April. However, Samsung Mobile CEO DJ Koh has admitted that the foldable was sent out “before it was ready.”

As reported by The Independent, Koh was at an interaction with members of the traditional press, and said that “It was embarrassing. I pushed it through before it was ready.” Koh goes on to add “I do admit I missed something on the foldable phone, but we are in the process of recovery.” He goes on to say that 2,000 units of the Galaxy Fold are being tested now in all aspects. It seems that they are working on issues known because of the reviewers in April, as well as seeing if there were any issues they hadn’t thought about.

When asked about when the Fold will be released, Koh only said “in due course” and implored everybody to “Give us a bit more time.” So it seems that the Galaxy Fold isn’t getting cancelled, after all. But it’ll be interesting to see who comes out on top, and whether Samsung will be able to beat Huawei to be the World’s first foldable smartphone, all over again.
