RM200,000 Scholarship Grant Awaits At 2016 Google Science Fair

If you have the tendency to love science and tinker in your garage in efforts to create the next big thing?The time is here for you to put on your best work, Google, is inviting fresh, young, budding Malaysian scientists to showcase their science ideas at the Google Science Fair. The annual Google Science Fair is an international competition which encourages students between the ages of 13 to 18 to be curious, ask questions, and perform science experiments to answer those questions.

This year the company is working together with LEGO Education, National Geographic, Scientific American and Virgin Galactic, Malaysian students can post their science projects online to compete for once-in-a-lifetime prizes consisting of:

$50,000 scholarship grant from Google,

  • A National Geographic Expedition to the Galapagos,
  • An opportunity to visit LEGO Group headquarters in Denmark,
  • And the chance to tour Virgin Galactic, Mojave Air and and Spaceport.
  • A Scientific American Cruise

Among the awards up for grabs are the Virgin Galactic Pioneer Award or LEGO Education Builder Award for an engineering challenge, the National Geographic Explorer Award or Scientific American Innovator Award if your experiment project offers a new way to look at the world, a special award to recognize an Inspiring Educator, as well as a Community Impact Award honoring a project that addresses an environmental or health challenge.Project submissions can be in any language, provided you also provide an English translation/script for English speaking judges.

Up to 100 regional finalists will be selected from around the world. From this pool, 16 global finalists will be flown to Google headquarters in Mountain View, California to present their projects in front of a panel of esteemed judges. From these finalists, the judges will select a winner in each age category (13-15 and 16-18), as well as a grand-prize winner.
