Celcom Axiata Berhad recently introduced a campaign offering for its airtime share facility. Celcom customers had the opportunity to win prizes when they shared their airtime amongst family members and friends within the network, via SMS. Over 35 days, this dynamic peer-to-peer solution gave away 35 units of Samsung Galaxy Tab 7 Plus to customers, both postpaid and prepaid, who transferred airtime daily to their family members and friends on prepaid lines. The campaign started 19th December 2011 and ended on 22nd January 2012, with the grand prize being a brand new Proton Saga 1.3 to be given to the lucky customer who diligently transferred airtime daily or at least 35 times throughout the campaign period. Contestants were required to transfer airtime at least once a day throughout the campaign period. Winners were selected from a pool of eligible participants after they answered two simple questions.
In a press release about the campaign, Afizulazha Abdullah, Chief Operations, Advanced Data of Celcom Axiata, had said, “The previous airtime share campaign that ran between 15 October till 30 November last year has helped us understand customer preferences better and allowed us to adapt to their needs accordingly. We realised that the demand for airtime sharing did not only come from prepaid customers but from the postpaid market as well. Due to the evolving needs of our customers we found it essential to be innovative, allowing airtime share to be available to both sets of customers as well as reward them for their usage. We take pride in our continuous efforts in innovating services and rewarding campaigns, helping us satisfy the needs of many customers. Thus, we believe that by launching this campaign, we will meet our objective of increasing usage among existing customers as well as gaining access to new customers via the increase in awareness of our services.”
At time of writing, winners for the campaign have not been announced yet.
