Review: Solid, Slim and Savvy, ASUS VivoBook Flip

3

Being mobile is a popular trend that the market is focusing on. You can see all kinds of mobile devices in the market, like tablets with detachable keyboards, 2-in-1 laptops, convertible notebooks, and the list goes on. Other than extensive graphic gaming, most of computing activities can be accomplished using their mobile devices.

Carry Me Please

When I first held the ASUS VivoBook Flip, I felt like it was seducing me to carry it around due to its slim design and light weight. Needless to say, I was unable to resist the seduction and carried the notebook around with me, everywhere I went. It is easy to pack in my backpack. A snug carrying case was included with the package, and its power adapter is quite small to carry around.

In One Click

When I first turned on this laptop, I found myself greeted with the ASUS GIFTBOX. I found this startup app very useful because it prompts you with a list of useful apps such as Firefox, 7-Zip, VLC Media Player and much more. You do not need to go through the hassles of going online and finding each link to download the essentials software to get your machine going. With just one click, your download and install starts immediately.

I Can Do Complex Stuff

At first I wasn’t expecting much out of this device; I thought it’ll be just another slim laptop with only integrated graphic card. I was proven wrong when I started using it seriously. It came equipped with a lightweight graphic card, an NVIDIA GeForce 920M to be specific. Of course, I put it to the test by playing my favorite games, which include DoTA 2, Heroes of the Storm and CS GO. Though I had to use the low graphic settings, they were able to run smoothly.

Need For Speed

There was a slight disappointment when I was using this laptop. Personally, I feel wireless connectivity to be crucial for notebooks meant for mobility. However, this particular VivoBook Flip model doesn’t come with an AC Wi-Fi connectivity and only goes up to Bluetooth 4.0. I do believe that there is a newer model that is equipped with the WiFi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.1, so that’s an option you may want to consider if the need for speed is important to you.

A Solid Device

The VivoBook Flip is built with solid materials, slim and light weight – making it a worthy personal computing companion. I like the support gained from ASUS GIFTBOX for a quick start of a new device. If you were to perform more graphic extensive required activities, it can still handle it moderately since it is not very high in resolution.
