Review: Samsung Smartphone Game Pad

With the Google Play Store containing its fair share of shooters and platformers, playing them on a touchscreen can be a bit of a problem, especially if you have a smaller device but possess big digits. Fortunately, here’s where Bluetooth game controllers come in, giving you a console-like gaming experience that you can stow away if you’re not gaming. Oddly enough, Samsung has released its own take on the gaming controller. So how does it fare?

Solid Build
The controller holds on to your device via an extendable arm on the top, which has rubberised surfaces on each end to prevent potential accidents. The device itself is sturdy and well-built, with the only observable instance of flexing being the top part of the arm. The packaging says it supports the largest Samsung smartphone – the GALAXY Mega – as well as other Android smartphones supporting Bluetooth HID.

Game On?
The game pad connects to your device via Bluetooth, with NFC offering easy setup. The game pad works well, though the odd face button layout requires some re-adjustment. Compatibility depends on the game and app itself. In-game, the controls are intuitive enough to be declared as definitely a step up from the touchscreen. Good job on this!
