Impressive Build and Feel
Pulling it out of the box, my first reactions are that it’s surprisingly well fitted and ergonomic, unlike many non-Microsoft controllers out there. I am however slightly disappointed to see that the Razer Wolverine TE is wired-only. With such a high asking price, it’s quite odd that there isn’t a wireless feature. Saying that, the wire is pretty long and sturdy as it’s braided. The customisable RGB lighting on it is a nice touch too.
Buttons Everywhere
This controller has four extra buttons for all your needs. However, I did end up disabling the two paddles on the back. That’s because it’s just way too easy to click it by accident. The actual ABXY and bumper buttons are quality though, feeling like mouseclicks. The ability to cut trigger travel time down gives me milliseconds of an advantage when gaming too. Meanwhile, the sticks could use a little more tension, but that’s just a preference.
Pricey, but Premium
Overall, the Razer Wolverine TE is a good third-party controller. It feels almost like a standard Microsoft Xbox One controller. It’s ergonomic and doesn’t feel bulky or heavy. The additional buttons are good, although the paddles and sticks could use more tension. Saying that, the price of the Razer Wolverine TE is quite high, especially for a wired-only controller. But if you have the money to splurge and could find good use for the additional buttons, you’d definitely enjoy this.
Verdict: A solid controller that does what it needs to, but with a pretty steep price.
