There is nothing I like better to come home to a house all clean and sparkly clean. But having so much work every single day, it is rather tedious to keep the house clean especially when I don’t have a helper. Being rather sensitive to dust doesn’t make things easier either. So when Samsung sent us this nifty techie helper, I was the first to take it home to test its capabilities.

 Powerful Suction

When it comes to robot vacuums, one of the most important things is the suction. Now, having long hair, you can imagine the amount of tendrils falling around, as much as a dog losing its winter coat. Most regular vacuum cleaners, let alone traditional robot vacuums have a problem sucking them all in without getting them stuck on its brushes. Surprisingly, the Powerbot managed to clean out everything, whether on the wooden floor, tiles or carpeting.

A Smart Bugger

If you have used a traditional robot vacuum before, you would notice how it tends to bump into things before changing direction. The great feature about the Powerbot is its ability to sense something in front of it, slow down and slowly touch it before changing its direction. Need to vacuum upstairs and scared your robot will topple down? Samsung thought of that and included this vertical stand sensor that serves as a virtual barrier should you place it at the edge, hence making the vacuum stop just before it falls to its death. The unit also comes with a remote control, where you can actually point the light to the ground and the robot will head to that spot to do some cleaning.

Sensible Sensor

At a glance, you will see that the vacuum has a sensor-like protrusion at the top, and that my friends, is a camera that allows this smart robot to map the room, finding the best cleaning path. Does it actually work? Pretty decently I must say, although if you have tons of clutter on the floor or a rag tag of furniture all around, then it will make it harder for the robot to pick up every single thing. On top of that, since the robot vacuum is pretty chunky, sliding in between narrow gaps of furniture is a no-go.

A Pretty Penny

If you are looking for a robot vacuum that is powerful and pretty smart, you are looking at it. Heck, it can even climb on top of my weighing scale that was in its path! Cleaning the dust reservoir and brush is also easy with clip on locks, and the battery life is pretty decent looking at how I can vacuum my home’s master bedroom, a smaller room and my hall with only one charge. My only gripe? It costs me an arm and a leg. Quite a high price, but if you can afford it, by all means do so, just to come back to a lovely, dust and debris-free home.
