Accessibility First

When I first tried out the JOI 10 Flip, I wondered what the main draw of the product would be. With only 2GB of RAM and a 32GB storage, this is definitely more for casual use than for heavy workloads. Even so, I found the device best used for typing, watching HD videos, and the occasional browsing. When I needed work done, the keyboard works well and does the job decently. I could then switch to the tablet whenever I wanted a laid-back viewing experience.

Serviceable Keyboard

Getting into details, the JOI 10 Flip’s metal keyboard is its own standalone device. As expected, you’ll find that it connects to the tablet easily and firmly via a magnet. The extent in which you can rotate the keyboard is limited, however, which I found somewhat disappointing. This same rigidity also lends to making detaching the keyboard from the tablet a clumsy process. Despite all that, the keys themselves are comfortable and responsive, which might be all some people need.

Easygoing

This 2018 refresh features a much thinner 8.8mm chassis and lighter 522g weight. I find these to be worthwhile improvements as they emphasise on the tablet’s ease of use. The new metal keyboard also hosts two standard USB slots on its sides, which addresses the issue of the tablet’s single slot. Hence, ‘portable meets productivity’ is an adequate tagline for the new JOI 10 Flip. If budget is an issue, there’s little to go wrong with this device
