Razer takes a crack at the Android TV micro-console idea.
Razer certainly has been having a busy CES 2015, continuing up with a slew of new releases with the Razer Forge TV micro-console, Razer Cortex: Stream software and two Bluetooth peripherals, the Razer Serval and the Razer Turret. With the Razer Forge TV, the gaming peripheral maker aims to bring a new level and depth to gaming on the Android platform.
The Razer Forge TV has some amazing power at its hard with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset. It runs on a Quad-Core Krait 450 CPU with each core at 2.5 GHz, an Adreno 420 GPU and 2 GB RAM. Using these specs, users should be able to enjoy some high-end gaming or high-resolution content on the micro-console. Of course, games are more fun when there are friends to play or share it with, so the Android TV supports up to four controllers and has a huge collection of content and apps readily available thanks to the Google Play store, which you can then connect to your TV via Google Cast.
Next, the Razer Serval that serves (ha, I see what you did there Razer!). With this Bluetooth gaming controller, you get to play any Android TV game or Mobile game wherever you like via the device’s phone clip. The Serval can pair with four unique devices, so you can switch from Razer Forge TV to your mobile, tablet or PC without needing extra controllers.
Want to stream from your living room? Check out the Razer Cortex: Stream, a new feature to Razer’s launcher platform “Cortex”. Stream will be launched in 2015 and promises the kind of low latency you really want when streaming. The feature is compatible with games built on Directx9 and higher.
Last but not least is the Razer Turret, a wireless gaming mouse and ‘lapboard’ combo. The Razer Turret functions as the gaming keyboard plus mouse combo, but at a sleek and slender form factor that you can use while on the comforts of your couch.
Most of these Razer products will be available at Razer’s online store within Q1 of 2015, while the Cortex: Stream add-on will have its beta around Q2 2015. Pricing in Malaysia unavailable at the moment, but we’ve included the retail prices in USD below.
