In the recent tabling of the Belanjawan 2018, the government has set aside RM 10 million to be invested in the esports industry. This was applauded and backed up by the Minister for Youth and Sports, Syed Saddiq. Adding onto the financial support for the development of esports for the youth, Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan has joined in committing RM 10 million to develop the country’s budding esports industry.

Malaysia Youth and Sports minister Syed Saddiq responded with a “thank you” shortly, and retweeted the Razer CEO in acknowledgement.

The contribution from both sides was received well enough by fans alike prompting a more positive outlook towards developing the esports industry as well as cementing a more concrete relationship between both parties.
Other SEA based esports counterparts has expressed that their respective governments and representatives would be on a similar page.
Razer is the world’s leading lifestyle brand for gamers, and has been driving the global growth of esports more than ten years ago, even before it was called “esports”.
They have made high-profile in-roads into esports in Southeast Asia in recent months, such partnering with Singtel to pioneer the PVP Esports Championships in October 2018, one of the region’s largest multi-title esports festival to date.
The two parties will begin working closely together, and more details will be shared share in due course.
