Rapid rail CEO who informed the public that those using the train service no longer required to practice social distancing has come under fire from the Defense Minister for making such a statement.

In today’s briefing, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob lambasted Rapid Rail which is under the ownership of Prasarana for its issuance of statement that it will no longer be required to follow SOP standards for its trains and stations. According the Minister, all sector will still have to conduct safety procedures and ensure SOP’s are strictly adhered to during RMCO, he reminded everyone the virus is still in the community and there is no reason for everyone to stop being careful. He added the excuse of losing money due to limited passengers cannot be entertained as even airlines are suffering due to 60% limit permitted on air travel. The government will be discussing on this matter at length, and see how they can assist these company’s to overcome their predicament.

The comment from Datuk Sabri, comes after the train service said it will end social distancing guidelines from 11 June onward to ensure more passengers can board its trains. Rapid Rail operates the rapid transit system between Kuala Lumpur and Klang Valley.
