Malaysia’s RamPaGe Wins Call of Duty WWII Asia Championship 2018

After a long journey, the finale of the Call of Duty WWII Asia Championship 2018 ends on a high note. Four teams from all across the region gather at Battle Arena in Petaling Jaya for a final bout. Despite a long day of tense battles between the best the region has to offer, Malaysia’s team RamPaGe Gaming steps up as Asia’s victor. The team snatches a solid 3-0 win over Avarice Gaming after paving its way through winner’s bracket.

The four teams competing in the championship are RamPaGe Gaming, Avarice Gaming, Venom ReD, and ItsNutty. Members of the teams comprise of players from Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, and South Korea. These are the best of the best, having qualified for the finale through fierce preliminary qualifiers.

The tournament is hosted by ESL Asia and presented by Playstation. It runs on a double-elimination bracket with a best of three format. The Grand Finals, however, uses a best of five format.

The tournament begins with a domination by RamPaGe Gaming over ItsNutty in winner’s bracket. The team then grabs a spot into Grand Finals by taking down Avarice Gaming.

In the loser’s brackets, crowd-favourite Venom ReD clinches a victory over ItsNutty. However, the team eventually falls to Avarice Gaming, despite mounting a close comeback.

During the Grand Finals, RamPaGe Gaming, lead by team captain Hakim ‘RanGer’ Tajudin, shows its fangs and decimates Avarice Gaming. Great plays from the team are seen throughout the Hardpoint, Search & Destroy, and Capture the Flag modes.

As the champions, RamPaGe Gaming obtains a huge cash prize of USD 12,000 as well as an chance to compete at the Call of Duty World League, Anaheim in June. The first runner-up, Avarice Gaming, walks away with USD 5,000. Meanwhile, Venom ReD and ItsNutty leave with USD 2,000 and USD 1,000 respectively.

The books close on the Call of Duty WWII Asia Championship 2018, but eSports enthusiasts can expect more action soon. On Sunday, Battle Arena also hosts the finals of the Playstation League Asia 2018 for FIFA 18. Players from all over the region gather to qualify for the FIFA 18 Global Series next month. Interestingly, Malaysia’s own Luqman ‘GB Fenrir’ Haziq will also compete for this esteemed chance.
