Sony’s Playstation are finally implementing the feature to allow users to change their usernames on PSN. It’s something people have been wanting for awhile, and honestly, so have I. I made my PSN username when I was 16 on my older brothers PS4, and I’ve regretted ever since. It features a lot of ‘xXXx’ and other staple tryhard gamer culture lameness. And boy, did I outgrow it. The first change will be free, but changes after that will cost $9.99 USD/CAD (RM 42). Playstation Plus members however, will have a discounted cost of $4.99 USD/CAD (RM 21) for each change after the first. But don’t fret, if you do regret changing it, you’ll be able to revert to your old ID, free of charge.
The feature actually has already been in beta for a while now. However users and Playstation themselves, reported that you might not be able to use some content. This included games, DLCs, and basically things that were connected with your PSN name. Even with the implementation, the released a statement on their blog post saying it still might not work with some games.
“All PS4 games originally published on or after April 1, 2018 have been developed to support the online ID change feature. However, since they have not all been specifically tested with the feature, we cannot guarantee that they will support it. For more details and information, we encourage you to refer to the before making a change to your online ID.”

To be safe, check out the blog post as well as games you play, and if they support the change.
Some games won’t and that’s why we aren’t recommending anyone to change their names just yet. But it’s nice to know that we could, if we wanted to.
