Hold on to your seats everyone, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyddin Yassin will be going live on Labour Day to address the nation.
In a release today from the Prime Minister’s Office, its stated that PM will be giving a special speech on May 1 as the Movement Control Order enters into week 7. In his last address, Tan Sri Muhyddin was on air just a day before the start of Ramadan and informed the rest of the country that the MCO will be extended for another week, many will be wondering what will he say tomorrow.
Malaysia has been on a semi-lockdown since March 18 under the Movement Control Order as its referred to, the restriction has mainly kept Malaysians from leaving their house expect for food and grocery. The approach set in place by the government has mostly been successful in curtailing the spread of the coronavirus among the community. To-date, the country recorded 6002 cases with 4172 if those already discharged, the Health Ministry has indicated that the worst is over and certain parts of the economy can resume.
Covid 19 has crippled the nations economy with predictions that we will enter a negative growth territory for the first time, the delay in lifting the MCO is causing us RM2.4 billion a day, a sum we cant afford much longer. Opening up for business in imperative but will have to be administered cautiously, a fine balance for the Prime Minister and his cabinet to implement. All eyes will be on this new government which is not even 3 months old and how it plans to Malaysia out of this doldrums.
For now lets hope tomorrow is not another declaration of the MCO extension.
Viewers can catch the live telecast, on Bernama TV, Astro Awani and RTM1, as of now the timing for the broadcast is not made known.
