Swiping right will never be the same
Snapchat is changing it’s strategy. Evan Spiegel, Snapchat CEO, who is notorious for not talking about the company’s strategies or his personal life looked like a brand new man at Snap’s first ever Partner Summit last week. There was an openness to him, he mingled with the crowd and made himself very accessible to attendees, and this openness seems to be spilling into his company ethos as well.
Snapchat is known to be very closed up to the prospect of outside influence. There is no ‘News Feed’ that allows for outside links to be shared in Snapchat. Everything takes place within the confines of the app, and publishers looking to create content must first be vetted and approved by Snap’s team.
That seems to be changing though as Snapchat stories will soon be coming to apps such as Tinder, Houseparty and other networking applications. With the company strengthening its partnership with third-party apps, Snapchat stories will now be embedded in the third party app’s code, using an API dubbed App Stories.
This means that the tinder game is about to change drastically. The team up will see users being able to send snaps from snapchat directly to the dating app, with prospective matches then being able to view your tinder story. This added interactivity to the Tinder app is sure to set Tinder apart from competitors. The new feature is not yet available but should be later this year. Are you looking forward to it?
