If the majority of Malaysians get themselves tested then the burden on the health system will definitely come down. In efforts to get more citizens tested, the Life Insurance Association of Malaysia (LIAM), Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM) and the Malaysian Takaful Association (MTA) launched the Covid-19 Test Fund (CTF) aimed at testing more than 26,600 Malaysians.
In a joint statement today, they said the fund would subsidise the costs of the test for policyholders who are most at risk for COVID-19 giving a maximum reimbursement of RM300 per test, limited to one reimbursement per individual.
According to the association, policyholders and certificate holders will be able to submit their claims online via the portal at the MyCTF website from April 11, 2020, while a nationwide 24/7 toll-free call centre will be operational from April 8, 2020. More of such initiatives are mooted by the private sector, Selangor state government will be introducing mass tests for its people in an effort to ease the workload currently being undertaken by the Health Ministry.
A total of RM8 million has been set aside for the CTF and hopes the users register themselves on the site and use up the reimbursement.
