The PS4 will be getting a software update to version 7.00 this week, and it includes new features for parties and remote play. Now, players will be able to have parties of up to 16 people, which increases from the previous cap of 8. There’ll also be a chat transcription available, but that’s only for players in the U.S. for now. Who knows why you would need this feature, but I assume it’s to blackmail your friends with s**t they say in chat.
In PlayStation’s blog post, they announced that the software update will have better network connectivity, as well as audio quality in parties, which is honestly great. Sometimes that connection is really bad, and hopefully the new update makes it easier to speak to someone in a party.
Remote play is also getting an update to fully support Android devices, but only if it’s on Android 5.0 or higher. Gamers will then be able to use their DualShock 4 wireless controllers to play on Android, iPhones, and iPads. But the caveat, is you’re gonna need to be running the latest Android 10, iOS 13, or iPadOS 13. RIP Samsung users.
