If you’re a TikTok user, surely you have watched tons of videos regardless for whatever intentions you have. It is undeniable that you also learned lots of life lessons as well as life hacks in this Chinese social network but have you ever thought of learning finance in it?
The social network is currently attracting a new lineup of influencers offering advice on how best to invest money and boost your personal finances. As the videos are going viral and drawing millions of views, this brings the delight to the influencers and their bank accounts, of course.
There are now millions of videos under the hashtags “Fintok”, “Moneytok”, “financetok” or “howtoinvest” and “personalfinance” and as Bitcoin pursues to grow, the dream to win big with little effort has become a real trend on TikTok.

Generally, those videos are discussing cryptocurrency investment, how to buy stocks or basically just understanding how the financial markets work.
As an example, with more than 227,500 TikTok followers, the influencer Antonette Aquino – aka “moneyhealthcheck” – has gained over 1.6 million “Likes”, with videos explaining different kinds of investments. Aquino however, isn’t the sole star in this trend.
The influencer Humphrey Yang has over 1.6 million followers on his humphreytalks TikTok account, and his videos have scored over 22.7 million “Likes”. His contents are mostly of his funny, explanatory videos, in which he films himself from two different angles – one for user questions and the other presenting professional advice.
Despite it being a good technique to expose the public to the financial world, users should be aware not to always take this kind of advice at face value.
Some creators sow the seed promises and in these times, those kinds of promises are the stuff of dreams for the Internet users who watch these videos and follow these accounts. Remember; they make content!
TikTok also allows creators to make money from their videos, provided they fulfil certain criteria and to make money, they need to be resident in France, the UK, Germany, Italy or Spain, be over 18 years old, and have at least 10,000 followers. The videos also must have over 10,000 views in the last 30 days, and they must respect community guidelines.
Every app can be beneficial if one knows how to use it wisely. For the users, it’s okay to take those advice but do double check on your own too to avoid any misunderstandings in the future.
