Panasonic is stepping into the connected space in a big way by announcing their participation for the first time in Europe at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Occupying booth size of 120m2  it will feature technology for airport use, retail, car rental and various other areas the company has been working on. A late entry into the technology evolution, Panasonic seeks to regain ground from rival Samsung by focusing on industrial and commercial use for its solutions.

One of the key technologies on show will be LinkRay, a one-to-one customer engagement tool for public spaces. It means dozens of people can simultaneously get native language information from display panels and LED lighting to their smartphone, so that display panels in an airport could contain links to transport information in multiple languages.

Also on show will be HD Beacon technology, which can assist localised mapping and wayfinding within the terminal buildings at an airport. So, for instance, airport staff or people with limited mobility could use their mobile device to find the nearest electric cart to get them quickly to their gate. There will also be transparent screens which uses projection to create for window displays for retails space on display.

Panasonic is entering automotive with car rental service with Ficosa that will showcase connected cars enhancing higher level of experice in autonomous driving. MWC is quickly becoming a mainstay for many vendors to promote their connected solutions as the conference expands from kust being a telecommunications fair.
