While NVIDIA arranged a big show for its Big Format Gaming Display at CES 2018, it didn’t ignore the masses; instead, it has been quietly putting together a couple of next-gen NVIDIA 4K panels together. After all, it has to appease the masses still.

Once hype on the oversized panels ebb away, reports on new NVIDIA displays are now surfacing. Confirmation is coming directly from the ongoing NVIDIA activities at Games Developers Conference 2018. Logical calculations put the release of both monitors at April 2018.

Of course, NVIDA G-Sync support is a given and must be able to deliver 4K HDR performance at 144Hz.

These new displays follow a strict guideline sheet and must achieve what NVIDIA wants to create true premium 4K gaming. This includes proper 3840×2160 pixel performance at 144Hz and using LED backlit Quantum Dot film. Having both mean the screens must produce 1000-nit brightness and provide HDR10 output. The visual delivery must meet DCI-P3 colour gamut ratings.

So far, only ASUS and Acer have been able to meet these high standards NVIDIA has set; thanks to the AU. Optronics’ AVHA panels the two use. The prototypes that made an appearance at last year’s COMPUTEX TAIPEI – the Acer Predator X27 and ASUS ROG Swift PG27UQ – have yet to officially debut.

Let’s hope these two premium NVIDIA 4K panels will be able to make a showing soon or be forever stuck in development limbo. Personally, that’ll be a real pity if the latter comes true.
