Kids are bored these days. In the era of social distancing, making TikTok videos is a way for young people to have some fun while also showing off their creative and quirky side on social media. The potential to become viral hit sensations is also an added benefit of using the platform.

Unfortunately, sometimes things can go wrong as a group of teenagers in Seattle, Washington find out in a macabre discovery.

While making a TikTok video on the popular beach destination, Pike’s Place Market, the teenagers came upon a luggage jammed full of human remains. One of the bags was spotted on a shoreline while the other was found floating in the water, the Seattle Police Department said in a press release. Two bags of dead bodies!

A video posted on TikTok the following morning showed teenagers stumbling across the rocky shoreline laughing and joking around, blissfully unaware of the grisly contents of the suitcase. Be warned, the video is not for the faint of heart and user discretion is advised.

“Something traumatic happened that changed my life,” TikTok user UghHenry writes in the caption of the video, which was posted Saturday morning along with the hashtags #crime #murder and #washington.

In the video, the teens reference the app Randonautica as instructing them to go there. The app uses a random number generator to produce a set of coordinates, designed to encourage exploration in those who use the app. The app has become popular amongst TikTok users, inspiring the hashtag #RandonautChallenge.

“We found this black suitcase. We were joking that maybe the suitcase would have money…[But] the smell was overwhelming,”

“Open it! It stinks, yo,” an offscreen voice can be heard yelling as the group of teens neared the suitcase.

One of the girls in the video uses a stick to peer into the luggage, which contains a black plastic bag, before shooting the camera a fearful look.

After opening it, a second girl is shown in footage calling the police.

Residents were equally as perturbed as the girls with one West Seattle resident reportedly telling a local news station “I was stunned and shocked”.

All things considered, if a crime did indeed occur, what irony is it for justice to have begun as a result of some wandering TikTok tweens looking to find lost treasure. Life really works in mysterious ways.
