Next@Acer took place in New York and introduced their back to school lineup.

Acer Swift family: laptops

On the Swift family of thin laptops – news is Swift 7 is still the thinnest so they are quite happy about that. That aside, Swift series gets 2 new family members. Both of the notebooks support Windows Hello through fingerprint readers, with Skype for Business certification ensuring crisp and lag-free communication and Cortana with Voice experience. They also feature Acer BluelightShield, an application that allows users to control how much blue light is emitted for reducing eye strain, and Acer TrueHarmony, which delivers bolder, more lifelike audio.

Swift 1

The entry level, won’t burn the wallet, ultraslim lightweight laptop. Measuring in at 0.7 inches (14.95 mm) in height and weighing 2.87 pounds (1.3 kg), the Swift 1’s all-metal chassis is available in three colors (Pure Silver, Luxury Gold, and Sakura Pink).

With up to 10 hours of battery life, it features a 13.3-inch Full HD IPS1 display, an Intel Pentium or Celeron processor, 4GB of memory and either 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB of SSD or eMMC storage. Like the Swift 3, the Swift 1 also includes ultra-fast 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac wireless technology.

Swift 3

An upgrade to its predecessor, measuring in at 0.71 inches (17.95 mm) in height and weighing 3.9 pounds (1.8 kg), in a brushed-aluminium body.

It features 7th Generation Intel Core processors, Intel HD or NVIDIA GeForce graphics, and offers up to 10 hours of battery life. Comes with a vivid 14-inch or 15.6-inch Full HD IPS anti-glare displays, 512GB SSDs or 1TB HDDs, up to 8GB of memory and 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac wireless technology .

Additional features include a USB 3.1 Type-C port and an HD webcam with Super High Dynamic Range. Optional backlit keyboard. A special edition of the Swift 3 is available with a top cover with Vibrant Corning Gorilla Glass.

Price and Availability
The Swift 3 series will be available in North America in June with prices starting at $599; in EMEA in June with prices starting at €649; and in China in April starting at ¥3,999.
The Swift 1 series will be available in North America in June with prices starting at $329; in EMEA in June with prices starting at €399; and in China in April starting at ¥3,499.

 

Acer Switch family: 2 in 1 

On the Surface lookalikes – there are new members in the Switch family.

Both new Acer Switch 2-in-1 notebooks can be used with an Acer Active Pen on the touch screen to sketch, take notes or annotate documents or photos with Windows Ink.

Both models can access additional files through the MicroSDXC slot. The devices both feature a thin and reversible USB 3.1 Type-C port for fast data transfers of up to 5Gbps from connected peripherals, to share video and also to power other devices. Both lines also have an additional USB 3.1 Type-A port and Bluetooth 4.0.

Both the Acer Switch 5 and Acer Switch 3 come with an attachable keyboard that snaps on with ultra-secure magnets and can be adjusted. Measuring 5.85 mm thin, the keyboard delivers 1.4 mm of travel to ensure comfort and productivity while typing.

The U-shaped kickstand holds up the display and can be adjusted fluidly to any angle up to 165 degrees. The anti-slip design holds the display upright when customers touch or write on the display. Both systems work with the Acer Active Pen, which enables accurate and detailed direct-to-screen digital ink input for a natural pen-on-paper experience. The Acer Active Pen provides palm rejection and 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity.

Both the Switch 5 and Switch 3 have front and rear cameras, with front webcams provide 720p Full HD video recording.

Switch 5

The Acer Switch 5 is fanless, using Acer LiquidLoop cooling, and great performance with 7th Generation Intel Core i7 or i5 processors. Acer’s auto-retracting kickstand allows for easy one-handed adjustments to the viewing angle. It also supports Windows Hello with a fingerprint reader on the power button for fast and secure access.

Boasts up to 10.5-hour battery life, the Switch 5 has an anodized aluminum chassis, with a vibrant 12 inch wide-view FHD+ touch display with IPS technology, the Switch 5 provides 2160 x 1440 resolution with support from Intel HD Graphics 620. Acer TrueHarmony and Smart Amplifier provide enhanced audio performance.

The Switch 5’s keyboard is backlit for added convenience while working in darker environments. The Switch 5 supports a 256GB or 512GB PCIe SSD and up to 8GB of LPDDR3 SDRAM4.

The Acer Switch 5 is thin and light, measuring just 292 (W) x 201.8 (D) x 12 (H) mm (11.5 x 7.94 x 0.47 inches) and weighing 1.27 kg (2.8 pounds) when the tablet and keyboard are connected. The Switch 5 tablet alone measures just 9.6 mm (0.38 inch) in height, and weighs 0.92 kg (2.03 pounds).

For commercial customers, the Acer Switch 5 can be purchased with the Acer USB Type-C Dock that transforms the device into a powerful workstation. It includes the ports and connections commercial customers need: DisplayPort, HDMI, two USB 3.1 Type-C ports and three USB Type-A ports, as well as audio input for microphone and audio output for speakers.

Switch 3

The Switch 3 runs on Intel Pentium and Intel Celeron processors and up to 8 hours of battery life. The 12.2inch display has a wide 178-degree viewing angle and 1920 x 1200 FHD resolution with IPS technology. Comes with front-facing speakers in a sleek metallic top cover. This is also a fanless design with liquid cooling.

The Switch 3 measures just 295 (W) x 201 (D) x 16.3 (H) mm (11.61 x 7.91 x 0.64 inches) and weighs 0.9 kg (1.98 pounds) when the tablet and keyboard are connected. The Switch 3 tablet alone measures just 9.95 mm (0.39 inch) in height, and weighs 0.9 kg (1.98 pounds).

The Switch 3 supports 32GB, 64GB or 128GB eMMC memory and up to 4GB of LPDDR3 SDRAM4.

Acer Aspire family: Desktop

Acer has announced two new all-in-one desktops, the 27-inch Aspire U27 and 23.8-inch Aspire Z24. With 7th Generation Intel Core processors and optional Intel Optane Memory, both devices provide a powerful and responsive Windows 10 experience.

The Aspire U27 and Aspire Z24 feature Acer ExaColor technology which corrects colours and tunes contrast for vibrant and accurate picture quality. In addition, the Aspire U27 and Aspire Z24 include Acer’s BlueLightShield technology, which reduces the emission of blue light and may help minimize eye strain, while Acer Flickerless technology cuts down on eye fatigue. Dolby Audio Premium provides superior sound while enjoying movies or light gaming.

U27

The Aspire U27 boasts an impressive ultrathin 12 mm (0.5 inch) chassis with a diamond-cut v-shaped metal stand, bringing a new dimension to home computing and entertainment. With a 27-inch Full HD wide viewing angle display (1920 x 1080), and a specially designed subwoofer bringing powerfully deep bass.

The Aspire U27 features Acer’s LiquidLoop fanless cooling system which allows for quiet operation. It uses liquid evaporation and condensation to transport and dissipate heat, making it energy efficient and extending the product’s lifetime by doing away with detrimental dust buildup.

Thanks to Windows Hello, users can login via facial recognition. Skype for Business certification ensures a crisp and lag-free communication experience during video conferences.

Z24

The Aspire Z24 is extremely thin at 11 mm (0.4 inch) with a beautifully shaped rear cover, making it a handsome addition to any room in the house. It is available with discrete NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics, providing extra power for a wide range of activities, while an optical drive is also available.

A smart leather cable management holder keeps the workspace neat and clutter-free, while a screen that tilts from -5 to 25 degrees allows for easy adjusting of viewing angles for maximum comfort when browsing, watching movies, and taking video calls.
