Another new Star Wars series is reportedly in the works at Disney Plus, with this possibly being led by a female character.

Helming the project will be none other than Leslye Headland. She’s best known as one of the co-creators and showrunner for Russian Doll on Netflix.

She also directed a handful of episodes from the series. Russian Doll was nominated for 13 Emmy Awards for its first season and won three of them.

There isn’t much to go on about this new Star Wars series, other than the fact that it’s aimed to be a female-centric show and takes place in a different part of the universe’s timeline.

Headland will reportedly write and serve as showrunner for this new female-centric Star Wars series.

Currently, the only Star Wars series from Disney Plus is The Mandolorian. All episodes for its first season were out by December 2019. Its second season is scheduled for an October 2020 release, while pre-production for a third season recently begun.

There are two other upcoming Star Wars projects coming from Disney Plus. One is a series focused on Obi-Wan Kenobi with Ewan McGregor reprising his role.

The other one that’s in the works is apparently a prequel series focused on Cassian Andor, a character from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
