Okay, odds are you’ve seen at least one episode of something on Netflix, right? And you definitely know the streaming platform’s iconic “ta-dum” sound before the start of any movie or series on Netflix, right? Well, with Netflix films making its way to theatres these days, Netflix knew that the sound in its original form would be too short for theatres.. Given that it’s only 3 seconds and all.

Enter Hans freaking Zimmer.

That’s right, the video streaming platform has hired the best in the business to spruce things up for the films that receive theatrical releases and as you would imagine, it sounds freaking awesome. Zimmer’s creation makes the “ta-dum” sound almost unrecognisable, but in every way that’s good.

The Netflix "ta-dum" soundmark is one of the all time greats, but doesn't work as well in a theater because it's only 3 seconds long.

This isn’t the first time that Netflix and Zimmer have worked together. Zimmer did the score for The Crown, and as you can probably tell, Netflix loved it. Zimmer’s creation puts Netflix “ta-dum”, which only just launched five years ago mind you, in the same breath as the likes of the iconic THX siren MGM’s roaring lion.

It’s crazy to think that Netflix releases are popping up in cinemas nowadays. They’re obviously gunning for the stars and what better way to signify that you’ve made it than by winning an Oscar, right? Well, surely they have the killer intro we never knew they needed. All they need to do now is make a half decent movie.
