Get ready for the oh so tempting Nokia N1

Seems like everyone just wants to be Number One! Let’s see, in my list there’s Nexus One, HTC One, Oppo N1, OnePlus One, ZTE Star 1, Yotaphone 1, Huawei X1, and the list goes on and on.

Nokia is proud to announce its latest smart device – Nokia N1 after the recent takeover by Microsoft. The phablet is scheduled to be officially release in Q1, 2015. What got us all buzzing is it looks and we can’t actually feel it physically for the time being, resembles a lot of an iPad mini 3. The size, the screen display resolution, the build quality as well as the clever placement of buttons around the device.

The N1 comes with a 7.9-inch (2048 x 1536 pixel resolution) display which resembles the iPad except for the fact that Nokia took it a notch higher by it a laminated display. The body of the N1 is made of a one-piece aluminium body which has been sandblasted for a satin finish. What’s more? The speaker grills are located at the bottom of the device; the grills resembles those of an iPad if you ask me.

This time round, Nokia has made the N1 exclusive; instead of a micro-USB charging port, Nokia has opted for an Type-C reversible connector. So if you happen to forget your charger, you might be screwed for being the thorn among the roses. Nokia made the N1 to not look so Appley, but making the device significantly thinner (200.7 x 138.6 x 6.9mm) and lighter (318 grams) than the iPad.

Powering this premium device under the hood is a 64-bit 2.4GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 processor, 2GB RAM and 32GB of storage space. It also comes with an 8MP rear camera and 5MP front-facing camera.

To make things more interesting, the N1 will be running on Android 5.0 Lollipop and Nokia’s FIRST Z Launcher for tablet (currently in Beta version for smartphones only). What’s interesting about the Z Launcher is that you can simply scribble any letter with your finger in the middle of the homepage to open up apps  installed on the N1 or search through Google suggestions. Pretty nifty and handy eh?

Colours available for the N1 include, “Natural Aluminium” and “Lava Gray”.
