If you haven’t downloaded the app, I suggest you do it now because the Malaysian government will soon make the use of MySejahtera application mandatory at all business premises.

The statement was made by Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob in his daily briefing yesterday adding that the regulation would be gazetted by the Attorney General Chambers soon. If you can’t download the app, then don’t worry, SELangkah would be the second best choice as clarified by the Senior Minister.

“It is all right if they want to use other apps in addition to the MySejahtera App such as SELangkah. But they must have the MySejahtera app.

“However, exemptions will be given to premises in rural areas or small towns that do not have stable Internet connectivity – they are allowed to keep manual records,” he added.

This decision was made to facilitate the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) contact tracing process.

Meanwhile, police will revoke compounds issued to those who do not wear face masks in their private vehicles, as the current standard operating procedure (SOP) requires only wearing a mask in crowded public place after social media users claimed to be issued with compounds while driving in their own vehicles.

“I have discussed the matter with the police and MoH, and decided that the police will cancel the summonses issued,” Ismail Sabri said.

Those who have already paid the fine, he added, “can reclaim the amount paid.”

As of Aug 1 the government made it compulsory to wear face masks when using public transportation, as well as in crowded public places.
