LINE is pushing out a competition to rival Amazon’s Alexa and Google’s Assistant. Meet Clova.

Clova is short for Cloud Virtual Assistant, and is LINE’s version of AI Assistant. Clova will be rolling out as a mobile application, as well as a smart speaker akin to Amazon Echo and Google Home. Other platforms will be added in the future and LINE will be working with third party partners for platform development, as well as content contribution.

Clova will be connected to mobile applications through the cloud with Clove Interface Connect. Third party developers can add contents and services through Clova extension kit, which comes with dedicated API, tools, and SDK. Clova extension kit is provided free of charge.

Clova will initially be available in Japanese and Korean.
