The 15th season of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Malaysia has reached a crucial phase as four teams—AERO Esports, Team Vamos, DX Soul, and Todak—compete for the last three playoff spots following the conclusion of Week Five in the Regular Season.
The playoffs will decide which two teams represent Malaysia at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Mid Season Cup (MSC) at the Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where US$3 million in prize money is at stake.
Week Five saw a highly anticipated matchup between undefeated giants Selangor Red Giants OG Esports (SRG) and Homebois (HB), both having secured their playoff slots earlier. SRG dominated the encounter with a 2-0 victory, emphasising their strength as reigning MSC 2024 champions and two-time consecutive MPL Malaysia champions.
Monster Vicious (MV) became the only team in Week Five to secure a playoff slot, after a clean 2-0 run defeating Ocean Black and Team Rey. Ocean Black’s losses confirmed their relegation to the Malaysia Mobile Legends Academy League (MAL MY), having yet to record a win this season.
DX Soul (DXS) remained in the hunt for the playoffs, clinching narrow victories over Todak and Team Rey. Notably, player Muhammad Taufiq Hidayat “SkyZED” bin Mohd Ghazali achieved two consecutive “Savage” feats, eliminating all five opposing players in quick succession—a rare highlight for a first-time MPL Malaysia participant.
By the end of Week Five, SRG led the league with 20 Live Points, tied with HB but ahead on aggregate game points. MV overtook AERO to take third place with 15 points.
The final Week Six, running from 23 to 25 May, will be decisive as teams battle for positions in the Upper Bracket and to avoid relegation. AERO faces MV, who must win decisively to claim an Upper Bracket slot, while Team Vamos and AERO will showcase a clash between two of the league’s youngest professional Junglers—Danish “Error 404” Tahqif (16) and Muhammad “Hazle” Praba Balakosa (18).
The last day will see Todak, fighting to avoid elimination, confront JP Niners for a final playoff opportunity. With a longstanding history in Malaysian esports, Todak aims to halt their recent decline and prove their continued viability.
