Following the success of the first Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remaster (2016), Activision seems set to release a remastered version for Modern Warfare 2 as well.
The leak comes from ‘Okami’ and ‘TheGamingRevolution’ on Twitter, who’ve had good track records with Call of Duty releases. Both of them correctly predicted the release of their Battle Royale, Warzone.
Regarding Modern Warfare 2, Okami provided a cryptic tweet with a date:

Data mines show that it will only the campaign will be remastered. The multiplayer maps from Modern Warfare 2 will just be added to Modern Warfare (2019), to not split the community.

Their claims are further backed by leaks of a Modern Warfare 2 remastered artwork, shared by Reddit user ‘MrEarthboundFan’. He claims he found the artwork from updates files in Modern Warfare (2019).
The artwork isn’t the only image he found, as he found other images relating to a Modern Warfare 2 remaster in the update files.
While it all does look authentic, with both ‘Okami’ and ‘TheGamingRevolution’ having a good track record of reporting Call of Duty leaks, nothing is truly confirmed until officially announced by Activision themselves. So take this with a pinch of salt.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was first released back in 2009, making it nearly 11 years since its release. The game was met with praise and also became a fan favourite after the first Modern Warfare, and introduced one of the series most popular characters, Lieutenant Simon “Ghost” Riley.
