Qualcomm has just released an advanced processor to its high-end Snapdragon 855 used by flagship Androids, with the Snapdragon 855 Plus. The new mobile platform is built with the strong demands in more powerful gaming experience. Mobile phone users who play heavy graphical games on their devices are increasingly expecting similar level of joy as they would on their expensive desktop systems.
The Snapdragon 855 Plus evidently is close to achieving the best in mobile gaming compared to any other processor in the market. Qualcomm built the 855 Plus for speed and to deliver to notch experiences in multi-gigabit 5G, gaming, AI and XR. During the unveiling of the processor, Kedar Kondap Vice president product management said “Snapdragon 855 Plus will raise the bar for elite gamers with the increase in CPU and GPU performance and elevate experiences for 5G, gaming, AI and XR, which is something our OEM customers look to us to deliver.
Compared to the earlier model, the new version comes with an integrated multi-gigabit Snapdragon X24 LTE 4G modem which also supports 5G connectivity using the X50 5G modem and Qualcomm Technologies’ RF Front-end solutions. This allows the processor to deliver best-in-class cellular performance, better coverage and all-day battery life for premium 5G devices. Apart from that it also has the Qualcomm Kryo 485 CPU Prime core clock speed at up to 2.96GHz and Adreno 640 GPU which now offers a 15% increase in graphic experience.
The increase in GPU would mean enhanced performance inn delivering experiences in gaming. The Snapdragon Elite Gaming Experience gives users a competitive edge with a full suite of hardware and software features that are fully optimised for gaming, including the Vulkan 1.1 Graphics Driver that is 20% more power efficient than Open GL ES. The Snapdragon Elite Gaming Experience also features software enhancements such as Game Jank Reducer, Game Fast Loader, Game AntiCheat Extensions, and a plethora of added features including VR.
With an AI Engine, which offers a total capacity of more than 7 trillion operations per second the 855 Plus provides a blend of dedicated and programmable AI acceleration. This super capability is able to drive immersive XR experience for viewers who connect to a Snapdragon 855 Plus mobile device.
