Microsoft’s Giving Its Employees the Pink Slip

Microsoft is planning to let go thousands of employees on a worldwide scale as an effort to reorganise its sales force. The restructuring is set to include an organisational merger that involves its enterprise customer unit and one or more of its divisions that are focused on SMEs.

The reorganisation was said to be the result of a change of leadership this past year. Executives Judson Althoff and Jean-Philippe Courtois took charge of Microsoft’s sales and marketing divisions following the exit of COO Kevin Turner during mid last year.

In any case, this change with Microsoft has been a long time coming. Last year, Microsoft announced that it would cut 2,850 jobs, according to The Seattle Times. Two months before that, the company expressed its intention to let go 1,850 staff related to its smartphone business.
