MVNO and network operators were fined by MCMC for various offences including not adhering to the agency’s Mandatory Standard of quality of service and falsifying prepaid sim card registrations.

A total amount of 15 compounds were issued by the agency totaling RM510,000 to 6 telecommunication firms within this quarter of 2016. For quality service Asian Broadcasting Network was fined RM20,000 while TT dotcom,Net2One, Digi and Celcom was slapped with RM10,000 fine each.

As for falsifying prepaid sim card registration the biggest culprit was Digi receiving four compounds worth RM200,000 while Tune Talk and Merchantrade got 2 each for RM100,000. The other was XOX Com receiving a RM50,000 fine.
