MCMC And Telcos Around Malaysia Pledge To Provide Superior Consumer Experiences

Malaysia’s major telecommunications companies – Celcom Axiata Berhad, Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd, Maxis Berhad, Telekom Malaysia Berhad, Time dotcom Berhad, U Mobile Sdn Bhd and YTL Communications Sdn Bhd sign the Consumer First Pledge. This signing was witnessed by MCMC Chariman, Al-Ishsal Ishak.

The pledge marks a milestone for the Telecommunications companies announce their commitment to better serve their customers.  Currently, telecommunications companies had to comply with provisions stipulated in the General Consumer Code (GCC). But now, with this new agreement, there’s going to be some changes to how things work.

The provisions stated by the GCC states that 90% of complaints received must be resolved within 15 working days, and that 95% of complaints must be resolve ed in 30 working days. Which, if you’re keeping count, is a looooong damn time to go without any internet.

Faster Complaint Resolutions

However, with this pledge that all the big players of the telco space have taken, this will change. Now less serious and easier complaints must be resolved in 3 working days, and more complex complains must be dealt with in 15 working days.

Consumer Protection

Apart from that, the GCC will tighten consumer protections in advertising to avoid confusing consumers. Which is a pretty smart move, especially to people who don’t really understand the differences in the telco’s different packages.

Priority For The Differently Abled

Priority will also now be give to differently-abled consumers, which will let them receive proper attention based on their circumstances.

Overall, this new pledge from all the big players is a step at unifying Malaysia and Malaysians, to a more connected nation. So kudos to them, and hopefully this means a better customer service experience, as well as more reliable connectivity. Because really, who want;s t
