2018 has been an amazing year so far for PlayStation 4 games, and it’s about to get better. It has been confirmed that Marvel’s Spider-Man is coming out on 7 September 2018. Created by Insomniac Games, Marvel’s Spider-Man will stray away from usual storylines tied to the comic books or films and will instead focus on an entirely new storyline.
The game will be exclusively available on the PS4, seeing as Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is the sole publisher. With Insomniac Games large history with Rachet & Clank since 2002, it comes to no surprise that Marvel’s Spider-Man will feature an amazing box cover art. The box cover art in question sees everyone’s favourite friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man swinging into action, much like how he’s been doing for over 50 years.
Marvel’s Spider-Man will be available in both hard copy and digitally, priced at US$59.99 (approx. RM232.45). Malaysian fans can expect the game to come around the RM229 to RM249 price bracket. For hardcore fans, there will also be a Digital Deluxe version of the game at US$79.99 (approx. RM309.95). This will also be available in Malaysia between RM309 to RM319. Given the previous track record of exclusive titles, we can expect the prices to come up around that figure, but this is just a shot in the dark.
Aside from receiving a copy of the game, the Digital Deluxe version will feature new story chapters with Insomniac Games’ post-launch DLC series – Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps. This means that once you finish the game, there will still be more content to follow, if you choose to purchase the Digital Deluxe copy.
There will be three new chapters in each mission, new villains and characters to look forward to. Also, there will be a additional suits for Spider-Man. Hopefully one of them will be the Iron Spider suit that will be making its official appearance come 25 April 2018. Gamers who choose to pre-order the Digital Deluxe version will also receive a limited edition collectable pin. Unfortunately, this is only limited to customers in the US and Canada.
Lastly, there is a Collector’s Edition for all the Spider-Man fanboys at US$149.99 (approx. RM581.18). We fathom a guess that it will be between RM589 to RM599. The Collector’s Edition is only available while stocks last and will come with a digital copy from the Digital Deluxe edition. There will also be a steelbook case with Spider-Man’s iconic white spider emblem, a Mini Artbook from Titan Books and a miniature Marvel’s Spider-Man statue by Green Giant.
Of course, by pre-odering Marvel’s Spider-Man, you will receive a Spidey-Suit Pack with Spider-Punk and two other suits included. Both suits will be revealed at a later date, shocker. You will also get a Spider-Drone gadget, a PSN avatar, an original PS4 Marvel’s Spider-Man theme designed by Adi Granov (particularly known for his artwork for Iron Man), or extra skill points that you can use to unlock once the game comes out.
