Malaysia vs Singapore vs Australia: Which Govt Asks for the Most Facebook User Data

Today Facebook released their latest Global Government Requests Report for the first half of 2016, which details the number of government requests they received for data, as well as the number of items restricted for violating local law. 

Government requests for account data increased by 27% globally compared to the last half of 2015, increasing from 46,710 to 59,229 requests.

Relative to population, it would seem that Australian and Singaporean authorities have attempted more requests for user data than Malaysia. But that is not the only factor to consider – as these countries have much more efficient and fluid legal systems that have adapted to changing times and the need for better evidence.
