MSI launches the world’s first gaming notebook that comes with a mechanical keyboard
MSI, the leader in gaming notebook manufacturer and innovator introduces it latest gaming notebook – the GT80. If you’re thinking that this is just another gaming notebook, you might want to think again, cause the GT80 is the world’s first gaming notebook that comes with a backlit mechanical SteelSeries keyboard equipped with Cherry switches. That’s right, you read it right, keyboard that clicks on a notebook! Amazing right?
The keyboard is made with standard mechanical keycap and Cherry’s standard brown MX switch which gives you the tactile feedback experience you have on your external mechanical keyboard. The keyboard comes with N-key rollover and is powered by SteelSeries Engine software suite. The latest version of SteelSeries Engine now comes with CloudSync (SteelSeries’s cloud storage system that will save and synchronise all SteelSeries peripherals).
Its fantastic that MSI and SteelSeries manages to fit a mechanical keyboard into a notebook. So, you may be wondering how big is this notebook. The keyboard requires five times more space to function (27mm) compared to a normal membrane keyboard (5mm). Even so, MSI reports that the GT80 is thinner than its closest rival, measuring 49.1mm thick and weighing 4.7kg heavy.
“As the first of its kind, the MSI GT80 Titan takes a step into the future by integrating a proper mechanical keyboard with Cherry switches into the 18-inchmobile gaming beast. Apart from this, the GT80 also features NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M graphics, Intel’s best and latest mobile CPU as well as our usual selection of carefully developed MSI gaming technologies,” said Eric Kuo, VP of Global Sales & Marketing at MSI Notebook.
