If there’s one thing that unites Malaysians, it’s our unmatched love and passion for all things yummy and delicious. Although we may still disagree and argue over which nasi lemak is the best in town or what type of durian is the best, it’s undeniable that we Malaysians never discriminate good food.
As such, Iris Chang, Grab Malaysia’s Country Head of Marketing shared that this year Grab is choosing to demonstrate their patriotic pride by celebrating what truly makes Malaysia unique; the colourful and flavourful palate of Malaysians.
“As Malaysia’s homegrown everyday app, this year, Grab is celebrating Malaysia Day by uniting all Malaysians with the theme #MakanMakanMalaysia, by making it even more convenient for usp to satisfy our insatiable Malaysian appetites. Regardless of where we are from, or where we are in Malaysia, we are all united by our uniquely Malaysian palates, because we are never lost for great food, and truly, great food knows no state boundaries.
“This celebration of food is not only about us using our platform to rally Malaysians to celebrate Malaysia Day, but #MakanMakanMalaysia is also an invitation to all our users, which cuts across all racial and ethnic make-up to also join us in this feast of flavours while making it even more rewarding and convenient for them to enjoy their Malaysian favourites,” added Chang.
Kicking off the #MakanMakanMalaysia feast is Grab’s Malaysia Day video, appropriately named, ‘Explore the taste of Malaysia’. The video showcases the beauty of Malaysia through every Malaysians favorite pastime; bonding at the mamak stall with a variety of Malaysian cuisine. Check out the video so boleh jadi lapar sikit.
And in conjunction with this, Grab celebrates Malaysia Day and #MakanMakanMalaysia with GrabPay and GrabFood with these promos:

Rallying Malaysians for a good cause
As part of the Malaysia Day celebration and in the spirit of inclusivity, Grab is also rallying Malaysians to support those who are less fortunate and differently abled as they still represent an important part of our community.
And therefore, from 26th August to 22nd September, the Grab app will feature ‘The Malaysian Juggernaut’ challenge, and for every challenge completed, Grab will donate RM3.18 to the Pusat Penjagaan Kanak-Kanak Cacat Taman Megah. The donations will go towards building a special needs playground to ensure that the children are able to play outdoors in a safe and protected manner.
On top of that, users who complete the challenge will be rewarded with an RM5 off their next GrabFood order as well as 318 GrabRewards Points. All users need to do to complete the challenge is to make two out of three Grab transactions via the app, either a GrabFood order, GrabPay in-store payment or GrabCar ride.
