LG showcases its lineup of consumer electronics in a roadshow named, ‘Creating a Better Life’. Prominent products at the show include LG’s Signature OLED TV, Super UHD TV, InstaView Refrigerator, and TWINWash washing machine.
LG’s 2018 OLED TV lineup features the α9 (Alpha 9) intelligent processor. The processor reduces noise, increases image sharpness and depth, improves colour reproduction, and provides 4K high-frame rate (HFR).
The televisions host an LG AI ThinQ, which enables users to control the television using a set of instructions. On top of preset voice commands, the TV also supports natural language processing, which will be implemented later this year.
The 2018 OLED and Super UHD TVs feature Cinema HDR for a cinematic experience. They also support Dolby Vision, Advanced HDR, HDR10 Pro, and HLG Pro. A full array local dimming (FALD) feature improves the black level and contrast ratio to improve image and colour quality.
Super UHD TVs allow viewing from a wide 60-degree angle and can sustain colour gamut to 95% with IPS Nano Dot. Indeed, this is thanks to their Nano Cell Display, which absorbs unnecessary light to improve image quality.
Aside from TVs, LG’s InstaView Door-inDoor refrigerator provides improved accessibility with its ‘Knock-On’ feature. With just two simple knocks on the screen, users can check on items without opening the door. This also potentially reduces cold air loss up to 41%. LG will make this available this year in side-by-side refrigerators and multi-door models.
These refrigerators will also have LG’s Inverter Linear Compressor, which keeps temperatures even and precise. The Inverter Linear Compressor comes with a 10-year warranty.
Finally, the LG TWINWash washing machine uses TurboWash to reduce water and energy usage. This feature also trims down the time for washing to 59 minutes on top of improved rinse cycles.
