Lenovo has of course, come out and announced the world’s first 5G PC. I mean, it was CES, this was to be expected. The Lenovo Yoga 5G is the world’s first 5G PC, which basically means that it supports both millimeter wave full-band and sub-6GHz 5G networks. And that basically means faster connectivity, reduced latency, and wider bandwidth.

The laptop first previewed at COMPUTEX, the portable 2-in-1 laptop is also the fitst-ever PC to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx 5G Compute Platform, making it capable of high-speed 5G network connectivity, that’s up to 10 times faster than 4G.

The Yoga 5G also, is super light. It weighs in at 1.3kg, which is pretty light if you ask me.

But the thing I’m more concerned for is the need for these devices as of now. 5G isn’t all that widespread, and with very limited avenues to utilise your 5G capabilities, I’m not sure it’s quite worth the investment right now. It’s more for future proofing their products as most companies focus on smartphones, Lenovo did what they knew better, PCs. Just me personally, I don’t see the need of a 5G device right now at all. But maybe that’s me.

The Yoga 5G will be available in Spring 2020, starting at US$1,499 (RM6100)
