Lenovo has just unveiled its new Thinkpad laptops, designed for the road warrior in mind. Designed for power users in mind, the Thinkpad P1 and P72 combines the legendary Thinkpad series robustness with high-end workstation-class insides in a slim form factor.
The Thinkpad P1 can claim the titled as the company’s lightest and thinnest workstation, as it only weighs in at 1.7KG and only 18.4mm thin. Being thin does now stop it from featuring impressive specs. The P1 has a 4K 14.6-inch screen, NVIDIA Quadro P Series graphics card, as well as Intel’s 8th gen Intel Core Xeon processor beating at the heart of the device. It also comes with 64GB of DDR4 ECC RAM, and 4TB of storage. It will not leave you hanging for connectivity as it features two Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C, two USB 3.1 generation 1 Type A, HDMI 2.0, mini-gigabit Ethernet (using an included dongle), 3.5mm headset, and microSD, and it has 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.
Meanwhile for those who need proper desktop performance on the go, pick up the Thinkpad P72. It features a massive 4K 17.3-inch display, with a high-end NVIDIA Quadro GPU running it, up to 128GB of DDR4 ECC RAM and similar 8th gen Intel Core Xeon processor on board. Storage has been bumped to 6TB, which includes 16GB of Intel Optane memory for better data set manipulation. It is heavier and thicker at 3.4KG and 2.5cm respectively, but it is still very slim for a workstation-class device.
Both devices will be out by the end of August, with prices set at USD 1,949 (RM 7.949) for the P1 and US$ 1,799 (RM 7,369) for the P72. No Malaysia availability has been announced yet.
