The wallet friendly OnePlus Z (or OnePlus 8 Lite) was scheduled to launch alongside the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. But due to complications from the coronavirus pandemic, it was delayed to launch later in the year. Now, new information from leaker Max J. who tweeted the above image, hints at a July release for the reportedly affordable OnePlus device.
The image shows a device with a centered punch-hole setup with the Z moniker, with July 2020 on the sides. This, alongside previous rumours indicate that the OnePlus Z is definitely making an appearance in July.
Some of the leaked specs of this affordable device will include a MediaTek Dimensity 1000 5G SoC, rather than the Snapdragon 865. It will also feature a triple rear cam, 4000mAh battery capable of OnePlus’s 30W Warp charge, 8GB RAM and OxygenOS 10 based on Android 10.
For the screen , the OnePlus Z is rumoured to have a 6.4-inch AMOLED display capable of a 90Hz refresh rate, and comes with a triple camera setup on the rear consisting of: 48MP main camera, 16MP and 12MP modules. What these camera lenses are exactly, have yet to be reported.
For the price, the OnePlus Z could cost around GBP 400 (~RM2100), but it will probably cost less when it arrives in Malaysia and launches globally. For now, that’s pretty much all the information we have on the mysterious OnePlus Z. I personally, am hoping for a return to form for the Chinese smartphone manufacturers to come with a stellar, powerful device, for less. The One Plus 8 especially was disappointing when you see it’s price. For now though, all we can really do is wait till we have more information.
