Looks like Nintendo is having a bash to celebrate Super Mario Bros.’ 35th anniversary this year with a big party including several major releases. This includes various games in the franchise, older remakes and a new game.

Reported by VGC, who had multiple sources tell them that Nintendo is planning to hold an event for this year’s anniversary, which marks 35 years from the start of the main Super Mario series in 1985.

In celebration of the 35 year anniversary (think about that) Nintendo will reveal plans to remastered releases most of Super Mario’s 35-year back catalogue in 2020.

Some of the games included in these remasters will include: 1997’s Super Mario 64, 2002’s Super Mario Sunshine and 2007’s Super Mario Galaxy. They also reportedly are planning to release a new installment in the Paper Mario series and a Deluxe version of Super Mario 3D World from back in 2014.

Super Mario’s 35th Anniversary reveal was supposed to take place at E3 this year, but we know how that went with the Coronavirus pandemic about. The event was subsequently cancelled, and Nintendo could be doing a online showcase instead.

Honestly, I’m a fan of the Super Mario series, so I might be biased, but this all sounds like really great news. I still haven’t finished Super Mario Odyssey, so I better get to it before these games release.

Though what is slightly concerning, is how much these games are going to cost. If they all release at a $60 price point, it’s gonna hurt my wallet. $60 is the standard for most first-party main titles for Nintendo, which equates to approximately RM250.

If you can’t tell, that’s a lot, like, RM 250 x 5 = RM1250, which I can’t believe I would be okay to spend for these games. But let’s wait until we get official information from Nintendo regarding these titles, but so far, I’m already hyped.
