Just two weeks after the launch of NVIDIA’s latest Shield TV, the company has rolled out their new Android 7.0 based operating system for pre-existing systems. This upgrade can be performed with Software Update 5.0.2 for current Shield TV owners.

Android 7.0 Nougat adds support for writing to flash storage, picture-in-picture mode and a few new compatibility updates for NVIDIA’s 2017 accessories like the Shield Remote and Game Controller.

Amazon Video has also been added, meaning 4K video streaming and HDR with the right hardware for the job. This same 4K/HDR display support is extended to GameStream.

In future, expect features like Google Assistant might also find its way into the Shield TV.
