After the launch of the rebooted Lara Croft movie franchise, Square Enix announces its upcoming action-adventure video game, Shadow of the Tomb Raider. The release date is set on 14 September 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
As it is Square Enix’s way, it has yet to let out any further details on Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Instead, all we have to work on is a 20-second cinematic trailer. However, Square Enix did say that it has plans for a full review come 27 April 2018. We will also probably see more of Lara Croft in this latest edition during E3 as well as it just around the corner on June 2018.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a direct sequel to the 2015 hit, Rise of the Tomb Raider. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the third instalment in the rebooted Tomb Raider franchise, which will pit Lara Croft against the shadowy Trinity organisation. Gameplay-wise, it is safe to assume that Rise of the Tomb Raider will share similar elements from its predecessors, with puzzles to solve and tombs to… well, raid.
One key difference to Shadow of the Tomb Raider is its developers; while its successors were done by Crystal Dynamics, the third instalment will see Eidos Montreal take over the reins.
If you have yet to see it, you can watch the full 20-second cinematic trailer for Shadow of the Tomb Raider down below.
