JOOX have announced the launch of JOOX ORIGINALS, a series of music crossover projects in Malaysia. This series aims to support the local music industry, and is part of their wide-ranging 2020 development plan in celebration of their fifth year in Malaysia.
Over the past five years that they’ve been in Malaysia, JOOX has grown by more than 223% in number of active users. They also found that Malaysians enjoy a diverse music choice with English songs being the most streamed, followed by Malay, Korean and Chinese songs. But the top 10 most streamed song on JOOX in Malaysia in 2019 were actually local artists such as Andi Bernadee, Azarra Band, Hafiz Suip and Naim Daniel.
With that, JOOX are now investing in building up their curator service, which employs local music curators who are experts in the field to design unique and innovative playlists for music experiences aligned with Malaysian trends, activites and the hottest music releases.
“Malaysia is JOOX’s second launch market in the world with exponential growth in terms of its active users across the country. JOOX continues to see keen interest among Malaysians for music streaming services that address their local tastes and complement their discerning lifestyle needs in this fast-paced era.” said Angie Tan, Head of JOOX Malaysia.
JOOX ORIGINALS will feature Faizal Tahir, a well-known musician and producer in Malaysia to roll out the first phase. This will include producing original songs with various artists such as Queen of Ballads Dayang Nurfaizah, R&B duo FML and Sophia Liana of girl group DeFam.
Faizal Tahir and JOOX look to bring a variety of artists, from established superstars, trending artists, and up and comers in the next generation of artists with songs and a platform to explore their music.
The songs will be made exclusively available on JOOX from 11th March onwards. For more information about JOOX, check out the link here.
